First Weekend Club is a free, cross-Canada film club dedicated to building audiences and appreciation for Canadian films and talent. We only promote the best in Canadian film and our goal is to help keep more good Canadian films in theatres.

By joining First Weekend Club as a member you will you will be exposed to the following bribes—err, we mean, benefits:

• Receive announcements about special screenings with filmmakers and stars
• Receive invitations to premier launch parties with filmmakers and stars
• Be the first to hear about some great Canadian films and have an opportunity to read exclusive interviews with Canadian talent

• Have opportunities to participate in our DVD club and chat with Canadian filmmakers and stars through our on line forum
• Have opportunities to win door prizes at the theatre
• Have opportunities to win free movie passes
• Have opportunities to enter cool contests that will bring the winner and guest to The Whistler International Film Festival, The Genie Awards in Toronto, the Toronto International Film Festival, the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax.

Not bad, considering that the only cost to members is the purchase of a ticket to a movie that they would like to support! The more committed members we have, the greater impact we can have on a film’s box office success. As you may know, less than 3% of films shown in theatres throughout Canada are Canadian. We hope to change that and we need all the support we can get. 

 

Once you become a member you will automatically receive our monthly email newsletters about Canadian films coming to theatres soon across the country.

Members are also encouraged to spread the word about the First Weekend Club and the films we are supporting. Currently, the First Weekend Club has chapters operating in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto with our Head Office stationed in Vancouver at the Vancouver Film Studios.
