Peter Stebbings' feature film Defendor, starring Woody Harrelson, opens on Friday February 19th in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary. Peter is a long time FWC member so it makes promoting this film extra special for me. I should point out, for those wondering, that we are not promoting his film because he's a FWC member, but because it is a damn fine movie! It all comes down to that in the end, but it really does feel great supporting him knowing that he's been an active supporter of FWC for several years.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Peter a few times over the years, and it's always been a memorable experience (for me anyway). During TIFF he generously donated his time to blog about his TIFF experience on the FWC site, he's attended a number of our events, and he seems to be doing everything he can to make a great career for himself as a filmmaker and actor. And Defendor delivers - from start to finish with a great story and wonderful performances throughout. One of my favorite scenes is with Woody Harrelson and his psychologist played by Sandra Oh. The energy between the two is electric. As I'm not a professional film reviewer, I'll stop there with my critique. But basically I give it the two big thumbs up and want to shout out loudly to everyone - "go see Defendor this weekend, when box office results count the most!" Remember, See it First. Make it Last.
