About FirstWeekendClub.ca & CanadaScreens.ca

First Weekend Club is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the theatrical release of Canadian Films, and sharing Canadian Film news!

CanadaScreens.ca is our VOD Canadian Film platform where you can rent Canadian films online, anytime, from anywhere in Canada!

“Since it’s inception in 2003, First Weekend Club has support the theatrical release of over 400 Canadian feature films. With traditional distribution models becoming increasingly ineffective, particularly for smaller budget films, First Weekend Club has evolved in the market space from simply helping to support a films release to partnering with filmmakers in creating and executing grassroots marketing strategies that actively engage with community partners and deliver unique cinematic experiences. Our pop-up cinema strategy is about creating fun, memorable experiences that travel and are unique to each community, with a compressed roll out and a quick launch onto CanadaScreens.ca, our VOD platform. We are excited about this direction and about working more closely with filmmakers in helping them find their audience both in theatres and online”.   ~Anita Adams, Founder, FirstWeekendClub.ca / CanadaScreens.ca

About O, BRAZEN AGE film

O, BRAZEN AGE is the first feature film by Canadian writer and director Alexander Carson.
Part coming-of-age story, part art-cinema meditation on photography, memory, and souvenirs, O, Brazen Age creates a tender and haunting portrait of friendship and faith in the 21st century. The film follows a group of Toronto artists in their twenties on a search for new mythologies, invoking a cinematic landscape where classical literature collides with new wave aesthetics and 90’s pastiche.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS

Carson’s work combines personal storytelling with poetic and lyrical approaches to narrative. His short films have earned critical recognition at major festivals across North America and Europe, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the San Francisco International Film Festival, where he received the Golden Gate Award for New Visions in 2014. O, Brazen Age is produced by Alexander Carson and Kyle Thomas at North Country Cinema, and Jeff Hanes at Walk On The Sunnyside, with the generous support of Telefilm Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts. O, Brazen Age will have its Canadian Premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival in September 2015, before a wider multi-platform release the following year.
