Current film: Trigger
"McDonald has delivered his most mature film to date.” -Chris Bilton, Eye Weekly
“Witty, moving and immensely satisfying.” -Brian D. Johnson, Macleans
About the film:
Trigger is a story about sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll and egos in the midst of it all. Vic (Tracy Wright in her final film appearance) and Kat (Molly Parker) are childhood friends who create a band that receives what all musicians crave: some success. They get as far as a hit single and a European tour, but ultimately those egos get in the way of both the band and the friendship.
Ten years later, the duo reunites when a local record label throws a benefit concert to honor women in rock. The past catches up to the present and the need to make amends creeps in - but who needs to apologize to whom? Prepare for a raw and emotional Toronto night filled with the kind of music that you’d expect from a Bruce McDonald film (Pontypool, The Tracey Fragments, Hard Core Logo, Highway 61) and a band named “Trigger”. It’s a nostalgic, bittersweet, aching, rock'n'roll tale...
Also rounding out the cast of top Canadian talent are Don McKellar, Callum Keith Rennie, Julian Richings, and Sarah Polley. Screenplay by Daniel MacIvor.
Trigger is distributed in Canada by eOne Films.
