First Weekend Club is proud to support the WIDC programs that have contributed to the development of female directors across all platforms–tv, web series and feature films.

These programs provide a unique opportunity for professional and creative development to mid-career Canadian women directors with highly skilled industry professionals in collegial workshop settings.

Here are two deadlines coming up this month.
WIDC Feature Film Award
Deadline: July 2, 2019
Supported by leading Canadian screen industry organizations, the WIDC Feature Film Award is an annual national peer juried prize valued at up to approximately $200,000 in-kind towards a first or second, scripted fiction feature film project directed by one Canadian woman, anywhere in Canada.
WIDC Story & Leadership
Deadline: July 31, 2019
Focusing on fiction feature film, web and television series development, WIDC Story & Leadership takes eight mid-career* female-identified** screen directors through an intensive development program including an industry immersion at the Whistler Film Festival and four months of tailored follow up to advance each director’s project to the next stage. Some scholarship available.
